OBITUARY

Patricia Joann Warren

2 February, 1940 – 18 December, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Surprise Funeral Care

Patricia Joann Warren was born Patricia Joann Hendricks to Fred and Margaret Hendricks on

February 2nd, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa. Pat was a woman who loved her family and friends,

and was generous to all who her knew her. A lover of animals, she was a supporter of the

Humane Society, and played “mom” to numerous pets throughout her life. Pat was also an avid

reader, and shared her love of books with her children.

As a young girl, Pat moved with her family from Iowa to Southern California. Throughout her

childhood, Pat was a close friend and defender of her younger sister, Shirley. Anyone who was

foolish enough to mess with her sister quickly discovered that Pat was a force to be reckoned

with. Despite her diminutive size, Pat was not afraid to stand up to schoolyard bullies. She

possessed a rebellious streak that surfaced on occasion, such as the time she got in trouble

with the police for drag racing.

Despite her misadventures, Pat graduated from high school, and eventually met and married

her partner for life, Raymond Lee Warren. They were married in September of 1960, and soon

after they welcomed the birth of their first child, Raymond, on February 27, 1962. Three years

later marked the birth of their daughter, Karen, on February 16th, 1965. Over the course of the

next several decades, Pat would live and work with her family in a variety of locations across

the country, including California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and Virginia. Pat and Ray eventually

retired to Surprise, Arizona, where they enjoyed the warm climate and the company of family

and friends. For the last fourteen years of her life, Pat was an active member of Lord of Life

Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona, where she developed several close friendships.

During her time in California, Pat worked as a bookkeeper for several different companies. In

addition to work, she devoted a great deal of time to her children’s education and

extracurricular activities, including serving as the President of the Parent Teacher Association.

After moving to Tempe, Arizona in 1977, Pat embarked on a career in real estate, helping

numerous people realize their dream of home ownership, and eventually became a successful

real estate investor.

The year 1985 marked the beginning of a new phase of life for Pat with the arrival of her first

grandchild, Kristin Warren. It wasn’t long before she was welcoming three more grandchildren,

Kori Hubbard, Tyler Hubbard, and Kaleigh Warren. Pat was a generous grandmother who

enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, but the joy did not end there. In 2009, Pat became

affectionately know an “Granny” with the arrival of her first great-grandchild, a title she wore

with pride. Pat had a total of eleven great-grandchildren: Haley, Lauren, and Jonathon (Gillen),

Ethan, Ashton, Kira, Noah, and Aubrey (Murphy), Casen and Adelyn (Hubbard), and Rayanne

(Warren). Of all the things that Pat accomplished in her life, these kids are the most enduring

part of her legacy.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at 1 PM

at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, located at 13724 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West, AZ 85375.

There will be a reception at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family

requests that donations be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
