Agnes and Gilbert Kollmuss

Agnes was originally born in Calderbank, Airdrie, Scotland to John and Mary Russell. She was one of five children and is survived by James, Rosina, Mary and Edward. In 1964 as a young person she immigrated to Canada to live with her sister Rosina in Edmonton. This is where she first met Gilbert and shortly after they were married in Edmonton and that is where Agnes and Gilbert began their journey together.

After moving to a few cities they settled in Richmond, BC now with 3 young children and a new house. Agnes was a stay at home mother for a number of years before beginning a business with her husband. Now she was an active mother, volunteer and business owner with Gilbert.

She was an active bowler in her earlier years after arriving in Richmond so she and Gilbert joined a local bowling league that eventually turned into another direction. Agnes loved to play golf and being from Scotland that made perfect sense. She joined the Greenacres Tuesday Ladies Golf group that lasted beyond 25 years and forged some wonderful friendships.

As the kids began to grow her and Gilbert where able to travel and they saw so much of world either by excursion trips with friends or on their own. They also loved to cruise and had taken advantage of their ability to travel and made some wonderful life experiences.

As her kids became adults it wasn’t long before Grandchildren were in the picture eventually ending up with six boys. She was so active in their development years, babysitting, taking them to events and supporting their interests. As they grew Gramma was active in attending the boys activities which took her all over the lower mainland to get a glimpse of how her grandchildren where doing. Being an avid sports enthusiast she loved watching her grandchildren compete. Gramma would also challenge the boys with video games to the point where Gramma had her own video game system at her house.

We can remember so many holiday dinners that took place and their house with Agnes and Gilbert in charge of the kitchen allowing the rest of the family to spend time with each other. She was always trying to encourage family gatherings even during her later years they would put on feast for all of us to enjoy.

On June 2nd at the age of 77 we all lost Agnes. She would want for us to celebrate her life and we all have our special memories that will last and be celebrated. She was so grateful for her family and friends as they gave her great joy and anyone that knew Agnes and her sense of spirit, humor and her ability to enjoy life were evident in every turn.

Gilbert Charles Kolmuss

Born in Woking, Alberta, Gilbert built a life defined by hard work, determination, and devotion to family. Over the years, he lived in Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Alberta; and later Richmond, British Columbia, embracing each chapter with steady resolve and quiet strength.

Gilbert was a skilled electrician, a businessman, a home builder, and an investor. He took pride in his work and in the homes and opportunities he helped create. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic were hallmarks of his life and a lasting example to his children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Agnes Kollmuss. Married for 54 extraordinary years. Together they shared a love of golf and travel, creating many cherished memories over the years. Earlier in life, Gilbert was an avid sport fisherman, often spending peaceful hours on the local waters with his family fishing for salmon — a pastime that brought him great enjoyment.

Above all, Gilbert was a devoted family man.

He will be remembered for his strength, and love and devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the family he cherished.

Dad will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

They are both remembered lovingly my their Gerry (Sabine), Tony (Gayle) and Colleen (D’ Arcy) and by his grandchildren, Nicholas (Kourtneay), Curtis, Ryan, Trevor, Riley, and Haden.
