It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, nanny and sister Aileen Robbins. Aileen finally succumbed to her Alzheimer's disease.
Aileen's final days were spent in the wonderful care of the staff and volunteers of Melville House Hospice in South Surrey, where she passed away with members of her family at her bedside holding her hand. She also received outstanding care at Surrey Memorial. The family would like to thank the staff in the Emergency Dept., 5th Floor East and 5th Floor North Palliative Unit for their care and support during Aileen's stay.
Aileen was born and raised in Vancouver. She was a good athlete and enjoyed a variety of sports. These included basketball, volleyball, softball, bowling with her mom, golfing with her mom and daughters and watching her brothers play lacrosse.
She would meet her future husband Richard after a lacrosse game in the spring of 1973. In 1977, they purchased a new townhouse in Richmond and were married in December that year. They lived in Richmond until 1989, when they moved to a new home in Surrey and lived there for 20 years. In 2009, they moved to North Delta.
Aileen and Richard hosted many dinner parties, celebrations and BBQ's at their homes for family and friends. The backyard BBQ's, volleyball and booce games were the highlights of the summers. Aileen was an excellent baker, she made many birthday cakes for her girls, nanaimo bars, banana bread, date squares and chocolate chip cookies.
Aileen loved to get outdoors with the girls, whether it was just in their backyard pools, homemade slip and slides, day trips or camping trips, she was always up for an adventure. She was independent and was never afraid to head out on her own with the girls when Richard was working, often meeting up with friends or family. She loved her gardens roses, geraniums, sweet peas, hydrangeas and hibiscus were among some of her favourite flowers. She even grew radishes, zucchini, cherry tomatoes and pumpkins for carving at Halloween.
Aileen is survived by her husband Richard, daughters Tina (Bryan), Elizabeth (Wayne), Breanna (Kyle), granddaughter Payten, grandson Ethan, brothers Al (Mary), Dave (Julie), Bob, Brian (Jenn), her sister Sue and many nieces and nephews. Aileen was predeceased by her Dad (Robert) in 2001 and her Mom (Jessie) in 2022.
Aileen will be deeply missed forever by her entire family.
There will be a Celebration of Aileen's Life, Sunday, September 7th, 2025 at Beecher Place, 12160 Beecher St., in Crescent Beach at 1:00 pm. In keeping with Aileen's love of sunshine and summer, please feel free to wear tropical or summer attire.
