

Alan was born Mar. 22, 1956, to John and Ruby (Anderson) Herrington in Victoria, BC. He was the youngest of four boys. Alan grew up in Victoria and graduated from Mt. View High School in 1974. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montreal, Quebec from 1975-77. On May 11, 1979, he married the love of his life, Janice Kenworthy, in the Salt Lake Temple. To their union were born nine children; Jeff (Heleena), Nathan (Tina), Leanne (Mike), Wayne (Kaitlin), Mark (Megan), Brandon (Hannah), Robbie and daughters Ruth and Rachel who predeceased him in 1994. Alan and Janice have 15 grandchildren.
Alan earned his B.S. in Finance from Brigham Young University. He worked for investment banking firms in Manhattan, Montreal and Vancouver. In 2015, Alan retired after a successful career with Salman Partners to serve with Janice as a mission president in Barbados for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until 2018. At the time of his passing, Alan and Janice were serving as temple president and matron of the Vancouver British Columbia temple.
At the center of Alan’s life was Jesus Christ. Through his faith in Him, he consistently pressed forward through various health challenges. Alan had an immense capacity to love and minister to others. He knew no stranger. He leaves an eternal legacy and was a towering example to his family and all with whom he shared his life experience.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Sept. 9 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple View Chapel, 20370 82 Ave. Langley, BC V2Y 2A9. The service will also be broadcasted online via https://zoom.us/j/99446928517
