It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Alice Elfriede Woelki (nee Hansen). Our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved wife of Bruno Woelki went to heaven on July 20, 2024, at the age of 88.
Alice was born on February 4, 1936, in Torshallig, Germany to Erich and Margarethe Hansen. She spent her childhood years on the family farm alongside her two siblings: Karin, Alice's fraternal twin sister, and younger brother Matthias, who predeceased her.
She and her husband Bruno had seven children (Bärbel, Rainer, Ute, Thorsten, Anja, Susanne and Arlette). They were also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years which brought them much joy.
In 1980, Alice, her husband Bruno and the 6 youngest children moved to the small community of Buick Creek, British Columbia, Canada. With no knowledge of the English language or any experience ranching and farming in the North Peace Region, they established Woelki Ranch, a sizeable cattle ranch and grain farm.
Alice had a wonderful sense of humour, a contagious zest for life and she brought sunshine with her wherever she went. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends who loved and adored her warmth, kindness, generosity, quick wit and bubbly personality.
A church service for Alice will be held at the Catholic Church Of The Resurrection at 9504 100 Ave, Fort St. John, B.C. on August 2, 2024, at 11:00 am. There will be a light lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
