Alida McCurry, 80, of White Rock and Penticton, BC, passed away on March 21, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born and raised in South Africa, then trained as a nurse which took her to different countries including Scotland and England. It was at work where she met the love of her life, David. Together they immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta and then settled in Penticton, BC for 51 years. Alida and David recently moved to White Rock to be closer to their family. She is survived by her husband and children: Theresa of White Rock; and Paul of Vancouver and six grandchildren.
Alida was an avid golfer for several decades, never missing a ladies’ day. She was committed to her golf course, volunteering her time on the Rules Committee and tournaments. She also enjoyed many years of skiing with friends and family, even entering ski competitions. Alida was quite an accomplished chef, producing noted dinner parties where guests would eat a fabulous meal and stay dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
Alida was proud of her family, leaving behind many beautiful memories. A private ceremony will take place with immediate family only. It was Alida’s wish that the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation receive donations rather than flowers.
