My wife and I were recently told of Brents passing and would like to express our saddest in hearing the news.

Dear Tammy, Marley and Miranda,

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to you and your family.

We are your neighbours from down the block and have just recently heard of his passing.
We did not know Brent or your family well but we drove or walked by your house every day. We were fortunate to have been the recipient of Brent's cheery lawnside chats and the classic wave to us. His smile could melt even the iciest day. 
Our family would like to extend our thoughts to you and your girls during this very sad time.
We will sadly miss the ray of sunshine that brightened our neighbourhood.

I wrote this letter to Brent from my family on December 29, 2011. 
I'm sure many of you have similar feelings about Brent.
We are so grateful that Tammy was kind enough to read it to him for us a few hours before he passed away.
We hope that it brought him comfort to know how he was seen in the eyes of others.

Dear Brent,
You are an amazing guy.  We have had the honour of being your neighbour for the last 13 or 14 years, and we want to let you know how we have been blessed with the gift of being your friend.  You are a ray of sunshine on this block.    We have never met such a happy and positive guy.  Brent, you are a true inspiration to others.  You have your priorities straight, always looking on the bright side, and you never had a negative word to say. We so enjoy every sunny afternoon chat with you, your conversations are always so much fun, and you always have so many interesting stories to tell.  When Marco was supposed to be doing yard work, many times I wouldn't hear the mower.  So I'd look out the window, and there he would be over on your lawn - talking and laughing.  (Or with you down by the creek hunting for bears or looking for salmon).  It was always an adventure to be with you, Brent.  You gave us a moose roast, which was delicious. You introduced us to crabbing, and I can't believe I was actually able to touch a sea creature.  You took Chase fishing with you and your girls.  Chase loved that adventure, and he still talks about the salmon he caught with you.  Your love of nature and the outdoors has influenced those around you more than you know.
And a partier too!  You wrote the book on how to party!  How about all that dancing over the years?  We all danced so much at parties. That was so much fun.  
Brent you are such a thoughtful and kind person.  Whenever something needed fixing, you always know how to fix stuff.  You are always first on the scene with your tools, advice, and a helping hand.  What a fabulous neighbour!  Thank you for all the things you do.
Across the street, we have watched you in your role as a parent.  This is where you truly shine.  You are an awesome dad.  Brent, you have spent more quality time with your kids than anyone we know.  When you weren't tossing a ball around with them, you were taking them fishing, crabbing, camping, and all kinds of neat things.  You and Tammy have done a stellar job, and it has really paid off.  You two have raised your beautiful daughters up to be absolutely wonderful, intelligent, and empowered young ladies.  Wow!  Our hats are off to you, job well done.  No regrets for you Brent.  Your life is the epitome of success, and you have lived it with style and grace. (And of course fun!)  You always have a mischievous twinkle in your eye, and we can distinctly see that same twinkle in both your daughters' eyes too!  
Our family is just so blessed to have lived across the street from your family all these years.  It is always an adventure with you, neighbour.
We love you Brent.

We are so very sorry for your loss. While only knowing Brent for a short time through soccer, he made a definate impact on those around him.   He was always positive, "brilliant game" he'd say.  He will be dearly missed.

Losing someone so dear in your life is unimaginable. Grief is so hard, the only thing that keeps you grounded is the happy moments and memories that you built as a family with Brent. I remember Brent at Gordon Greenwood with the girls and how he was so proud to be the loving dad, all the activities that we had during elementary with Marley he could not wait to be a part of. We will always miss him, his happy smile and helpful demeanor. 
We are only a call away if you are in need.  Please know he was truly loved.

I am very saddened to hear of Brents passing. He was a great friend of ours in Pender Harbour, 35 years ago, and he will always be remembered.

We cannot put into words our feelings for your loss. I remember my first year of coaching softball with Miranda on the team, and how helpful and reassuring Brent was with me when I often asked for advice. He was incredibly supportive of all the girls and he definitely changed the way I viewed the sport and what it was really all about. He was such a great role model for all parents of kids in sport, and know that we will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

There are no words that can be said about the loss of Brent. He was such a good man. The years that we shared in baseball and soccer will never be forgotten. That big bear smile always cheering on the girls. When the times got tough on the field, Brent was always there to tell the girls "great job". When they were down, he would always pick them up. I thank him for being there for Channy when things got tough, always with a big smile and word of encouragement. "You can do it big 6, there's a homerun coming". 
We will all miss the hunting stories and tales about the one that was so close. We can all laugh about the times we shared and the good times we had.
You will always be in our thoughts Brent Parker and know we will always look after your girls.

Dear Tammy Marley and Miranda,

We were shocked and saddened to hear about Brent's Passing.  Neil and I have many fond memories of our days on the soccer sidelines with Marley and Jessie's Team.  Brent never had a negative thing to say about anyone.  He was always positive and upbeat.  Neil always enjoyed his hunting stories, mainly because Brent was a great story teller and so enthusiastic about his expeditions.  Know that our thoughts are with all of you at this time.
