My friendship with Carolyn developed during the 1962-1963 school year at Ontario Ladies College in Whitby, Ontario. Over the years we have kept in touch.

I spent a lot of my childhood with Carolyn. She was always such a big presence; full of love, laughter and brightness. I loved taking Peanut around the complex for walks, and I will always remember what her condo was like on a rainy day with her fancy candles and comfy couches. 

We would make soups and different things together, but the highlight was when she got a bread maker. We made loaves of bread together every time I was there and would eat the warm bread with butter in the kitchen. 

When Carolyn won the house in the lottery, they had a little girls room filled with pink, ballet themed, and a canopied bed. I got to stay in that room whenever Caroline invited us and I used to think it was such a big deal. 

I have the best memories of Carolyn and was sorry I didn't get to reconnect with her. She was such a bright light in this world and in my childhood memories and I feel for everyone who loves her and is missing her.

As I write my memory of Carolyn I identify with all of the other’s memories of her. Many years ago I met Carolyn on cardiac step down at SMH. I can still hear her laugh and loud voice cheering her patients while giving them her expert care. 

Carolyn won the first hospital home lottery and she asked me to join her to claim it. We spent the day with a news crew filming us going through the house. She had me jumping in the ensuite bathtub clapping and yelling how great this prize was. Of course we were showing off to the news crew who were filming us silly women. They filmed us all day and we thought that the evening news would show most of the filming. Wrong! Only maybe a few clips and certainly not the bathtub adventure. Carolyn would open the house to her friends and nursing staff to spend the weekends there. 

Carolyn spent many hours with my daughter Kaydee. They were close pals. Caroline, Kaydee and Peanut (Her chihuahua who was born handicapped) spent many days together. This dog went everywhere with Carolyn. 

We all were so fortunate in our life to be blessed with her friendship and her wonderful caring spirit and she will be very missed.  My love of her is a lifetime but our time together was for a season and reason. ❤️ I am truly the lucky one.

I am in Toronto waiting for a transplant, but will be joining you in spirit to send Carolyn off. 

If Denise Kinch reads this I have been trying to get in touch with her several times and also the last few days. I will leave my info with First Memorial. I would love to reconnect.

Rest peacefully, beautiful soul. You were always a smiling face and positive attitude. You're patients absolutely adored you, and you were such a champion for the less fortunate. It was a privilege to be your colleague. They don't make 'em like you anymore Carolyn...

I am Carolyn's cousin but only grew to know and love her in the last 14 years.  We reconnected one summer when she was travelling around Ontario in her Mustang visiting relatives. My family at that time was renting a cottage near North Bay and we invited her to visit and of course she did and the rest is history.  She visited us many times in Mississauga and sometimes needed rescuing from Pearson Airport!  My husband, Bob and I went nearly every year to Lang Lake and always had a wonderful time meeting her Lake friends, fishing and of course relaxing and enjoying great dinners!  We'll remember the laughs and nightly card games and her bubbly personality. Bob and I are both going to miss her so much!  Our condolences to all her loved ones!

I am so grateful for the time that we had as a family with Carolyn.  She will be missed by us all. The times spent together will be cherished. I will never forget her love for life, her adventure, her love and compassion. I am so glad she is a believer and we will be reunited again. She lived life well!!!

Carolyn referred to us as 'Backyard' neighbors! It was our son's friendship in grade 1 that caused our fortuatess meeting, that evolved onto a sweet friendship, that  included many great memories.  We shared Ladies retreats, B&B's, and of course Backyard picnics!

     Carolyn had a way of making the most of every moment, and making others feel very special!  
     Not long after meeting each other, Carolyn invited me over for her Boxing day  'Wifesaver'- by candlelight!!!
It was my  first time experiencing ambient lighting in a home! I have since made 'Wifesaver' every year, and try to remember to use ambient lighting for my guests, just like Carolyn did for me!

I was so happy to find that Carolyn believed in Jesus and as much as we will miss her here on earth, we can be assured that we will see her again one day! Yeah!

The condo door was revolving with friends who came from Canada & USA to stay and play. A typical day would see us waving down the local bus for a trip to Sayulita, to go dancing 💃at Philo’s bar🎸or on a boat trip across the bay for a fiesta 🎉.

Carolyn and I had discovered a small unique condo in Buscerias where we became buddies in the saddle 🎶… Carolina & Lyndita. We spent winters for over a decade in that paradise where friends were welcomed and encouraged to return….that didn’t take much arm twisting!

‘At the office’ was the best time of all…yup, we put in hours at the office taking care of business…sometimes having a beach convention when there was company. We attracted locals who befriended us while walking their dog, riding horses along the beach or selling jewellery & lovely Mexican dresses…we were their best customers! 
My story and photos are focused on the good times in Mexico although Carolyn and I also shared tears and sorrow…as I’m sure many family and friends are now feeling. She will be fondly remembered and not forgotten 💗

Amigas Carolina, Lyndita, Meena and Judy enjoying poolside/oceanside happy hour margaritas.🎈 There were a lot of smiles around the table as everyday felt like we were in Paradise. 
We were joined by husbands, other family members and friends so eventually we filled 4 out of 6 units! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience that lasted long after the best before expiry date ( an inside joke with Carolyn) and was deliciosa every moment.

Cooking was a fun adventure which started in the local fish and veggie market…or at the Mexican Kitchen cooking school. We would find fresh tortillas…and of course, cervezas. Lots of 💗and laughs shared between Carolina, Lyndita and Judy while preparing a fiesta.  Many fabulous Mexican cantinas became regular eating places and for special occasions….even with tables on the beach!

I want to express my deepest condolences and sadness that Carnie has left us.  She was my eldest sister’s sister-in-law and I met her when I was 15.  

From the moment that I laid eyes on that tall, beautiful, black-haired beauty, I was in awe of her.  Her confident, fun and loving personality shone so brightly, and she was a positive force all on her own.   Carnie lit up every room she walked into.  She was definitely inspiring, and I wanted to be just like her when I grew up.

Carnie was incredibly kind to me when I lived in Saskatoon in the early 1980s.  I knew no one, and was very lonely for family and friends, so she took me ‘under her wing’, inviting me to her family gatherings.  She made me feel like I had family there and that was so important to me.  My new husband and I had a lot of fun times together with her, Tom, Carrie and Scott, and I’ll never forget her kindness.  From those early days, our relationship grew into a close sisterhood that we both cherished for over 40 years.  Over the many years and miles, we stayed in contact, chatting for hours, catching up on news, laughing, telling stories/secrets, and sharing sorrows.  She was my sister from another mother, and I loved her very much.

When I think of her, I smile because I know that hers was a life well lived.  She loved her family, friends, travel, the cottage, work and so many other interesting aspects of her finely curated existence on this earth.  That lovely lady was a rolling stone and she gathered no moss!

I know her family will miss her terribly, and my heart goes out to them.  I’ll miss her too, but I feel very fortunate to have been part of her beautiful life.  Heaven is brighter now that Carnie has entered the gates!

I know Carolyn as a family member through marriage.  She lit up the room at all our family celebrations with her boisterous laugh and always made me smile.  She had a passion for travel and was always very interesting to talk to.  We will miss her.

This group photo is from the Fleetwood International Church 10 AM Wednesday Morning Ladies Bible Study Christmas photo a couple years back.  Carolyn is on the front right of the photo and I am the lady in the back row with the red hat.

 I met Carolyn in 2022.  I loved her big bold jewelry and liked to hear her stories of where it came from as I love jewelry myself.  Carolyn was honest and frank and hilariously funny all in a few couple sentences.  She was very faithful to pray for refugees in war torn countries and for those she loved deeply. 

One clear memory I have of her was when my son was struggling to find where he fit in the nursing field. I asked her how she found where she fit and she told me it was very disconcerting for her at first until she found cardiactric nursing. We have just found out that my son will begin working at a cardiac unit soon.  It doesn't seem unbelievable to me to wonder if she went and made some special requests as soon as she got to heaven! 

I loved to see her interaction with her friends from Panorama Place! I called them the Panorama Faithful! What a loyal and loving group of ladies.  What eternal richness of relationship she has taken with her to heaven! I will meet her there. We will be laughing and dancing again one day.... And just maybe take a dip together in the crystal sea heaven boosts about.

Carolyn and I crossed paths in the early years of this century at Lang Lake.  We became good friends and neighbours from the get-go because her cheerful, ebullient enthusiasm made you realize that life was too important to be down in the dumps!  Our time together was high-lighted by the "Ladies of Lang Lake Fishing Expeditions"  which she and her good friend, Ginny orchestrated.  They gave me the title of "Captain".  In reality I was just the barge driver.
Carolyn assumed the role of Anchor Lady and hauled and dropped the anchor as we searched for the fish in Lang Lake.  She was also an "anchor lady" in a grander sense by bringing folks together  to meet and greet for fun-filled, boisterous good times.
I hope that the memories of her joyous life will help ease the sorrow of her loss for her family and friends.

Carolyn was my good friend. We used to have coffee and samosa very often. She loved samosas. I will really miss her.  My condolences to the family. I pray and hope she rest in peace.

Carolyn was one of the first friends I made when I moved from Winnipeg to British Columbia.  I started my job at Surrey Memorial Hospital on 4West, the cardiac stepdown unit.  Carolyn, with her years of experience nursing, was a true mentor and friend to me during those first few years working at Surrey Memorial. She took me under her wing, and we became lifelong friends. 
Carolyn was always a person who brought friends together. You might say that friendship was her superpower. Her Whistler timeshare weeks were always a special getaway for her friends and family. We would share meals, go for long walks around the Village, spend time playing card games and laughing, and swimming in the pool . We enjoyed time in Mexico together, where Lynda and Carolyn were at the heart of the group of friends who came and went during their months vacationing in Bucerias. 
Carolyn was always an enthusiastic hunter for bargains. She was a true thrifty Scot! She delighted in hunting for a good deal at a second hand-stores, and for groceries. During one of the last visits we had with her, she drove us out to Cloverdale to a little hole in the wall Market to shop for discount groceries that were just past their expiry date! 
She would always welcome her visitors with a crock pot of soup, and that infectious smile. Food was love for Carolyn. Whenever she came to Texada Island for a visit, she would inevitably arrive with a carload of groceries, having raided the local vegetable stand and case lot sales. 
Carolyn loved the water. She loved to swim and go out on a boat, both here in BC and at her beloved cottage at Lang Lake. When she visited us on Texada, she was never happier than when she was walking the beaches with our dog Captain, or swimming in our local quarry. 
It is hard to believe that she is not with us anymore. I am going to miss her smile, her laughter, and her steadfast friendship. The world will be less bright without her light and love in it.

To Carolyn's children and brother, I send my deepest condolences.  
I'm June, Carolyn's sister in law. I am married to Rae. 
When Rae was very little he could not pronounce her name Carolyn, so he called her Carnie and when he spoke to me about her before I met her, he referred to her as Carnie. Therefore, the name Carnie stuck with me and our whole family called her Carnie. She was a vibrant, expressive, compassionate and giving woman. She became a born again Christian later in life and had a very good relationship with Jesus.  When she would come home to Ontario she and I would sit and have great long talks about the Lord. She was a person who cried lots. She cried when she was happy, she cried when she was stressed, she cried when she was sad. Her tears were an expression of how deeply she loved. I will miss her immensely as she was not just my sister in law but a very dear friend. I'm a little bit jealous that she will be spending this Christmas with Jesus and I'll have to wait patiently for my day to see both my Lord and dear friend and sister in law.

Every year she came to Lang lake we went swimming. When I was young she grabbed us both a noodle and we would always noodle just in front of the cottage. We ended up making a silly little noodle song together and we sang it most of the times we went noodling in front of the cottage. I will always love and remember how independent, strong, fun, loving and kind great aunt Carnie was ❤️

Carolyn was a neighbor or ours at Lang Lake Ontario.  She loved being at her cabin and she was a very giving person and such a fun addition to the many gatherings we had at the lake.   She will be greatly missed.
