Donald Bruce Jewison passed away at the Peace Arch Hospital on March 3, 2023. He is survived by his wife Gail Roberts, and his daughters Karen Peterman (Mark) and Gillian Goff (Andrew), as well as two wonderful granddaughters, Adelaide and Bailey.
Being reminded of teaching his daughters to play sports, spending summers at Granite Lake, and his time as a young man working at Lake Louise, brought him great peace in Palliative Care.
Don was born in Winnipeg on July 6, 1939. He spent the majority of his life in Winnipeg until retiring to White Rock, BC. He loved the arts, going to symphonies, plays and the opera. Don was a university professor for 30 years and Chair of the English Department at the University of Winnipeg. He loved teaching, had a lifelong passion for learning, and always injected some fun with this students (the talking frog).
Don took great pride in his philanthropy and encouraged his daughters to follow in his footsteps. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Plan Canada to continue his work of supporting girls and women in developing countries.
Don’s love, kindness, and quick wit will be missed by his family and friends.
