Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Foster (neé Aykroyd) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 14th, 2025, joining her parents, sister Mary Ruth Bauer, and other friends and family in their eternal home. Betty was born January 6th, 1946, to Nellie O’Rourke and Jim Aykroyd, and grew up alongside her two older sisters, Helen and Mary Ruth, in Toronto. As an adolescent, Betty loved show-dancing and theatre, a love that lasted as she two-stepped through life.
Betty married December 2nd, 1967 to Lt. Robert Michael (Mike) Foster, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. She proudly took on the role of Commanding Officer of the Foster family, from which she never retired.
From 1970, after Mike’s leaving the Military for further studies and a career fixing troubled businesses, they raised three children in Scarborough - Jim, Barb, and Ken.
In August,1986, after moving to Vancouver for bigger challenges, Betty continued to thrive as a wife, loving mother and grandmother, ocean cruiser and cardplayer aficionado (nickname: jewelsRus). Betty is vibrant, generous, warm and welcoming, with a sharp wit and undeniable sense of fashion. She treats everyone who enters her home like family. She knows what everyone needs, favours the underdog, and always sees the best in others. Betty is survived and forever remembered by Mike, Jim (Ramona), Barb (Cameron), Ken (Amber), grandchildren Colin, Nolan, Jenna, and Justin, and sister Helen.
Her infectious Betty Boop smile, multi-faceted personality, and “Let it Go” slogan will long be remembered!
