A lady to look up to and a leader to follow.  I am fortunate to have known her.  Thank you for giving so much of yourself to others.

Maj. Carpenter was one of my first female officers. She gave everyone the benefit of doubt. She would try her very best to assist anyone. She was truly unconditional. She was a figure of leadership, trust, and knew how to have fun. I was one of her first cadets back in 1975. All the time she encouraged and shot straight from the hip. In 1999 at the VACC reunion she met my children. My daughter and son were very impressed with this wonderful lady. She had words of wisdome for them as well. Her words of wisdom shall go on. Another Angel has earned her wings. With deep repsect and condolences. Tammy Myttenar. Words cannot justify this amazing woman.

I always dreaded being in Major Carpenters Company. She never cut me any slack, always chiding me, seemed I could never do or say the right thing. I was her problem child, one of many, no doubt. Truth be known, she cared and it showed in her method of Leadership. To me this woman blazed a path for hundreds upon hundreds of young ladies. Major Enid Carpenter set the example, with a positive attiude, and   constant motivation. If it wasn't for Enid, I would have never persued within the Cadet movement. My days there are done but not without the thought of Enid. Thank you my Dear Lady.   RIP

I've no idea how many cadets owe their Vernon experience to Major Carpenter.  She was one of the stalwart corps of regulars, that made the camp work.  I think she started in the games room, and had a hand in first aid training, before the arrival of our unisex cadets found a place for her, as a company commander.  I've no idea how many noses she wiped, or how many homesick kids she won over, but she made an impact dealing with young people.  If you believe in people, they believe in themselves and others.  Pass it on!

They say all good things must come to an end.  Thus ended the life of a very remarkable lady.  I had the pleasure of working with Major Enid Carpenter at Vernon Army Cadet Camp from 1982-84.  She was a formidable force at VACC and a very gracious host in her home.  Oh, Enid, the Raspberry Margueritas at the Eagle's Nest on Gross Mountain!  Our friendship continued through the years.  RIP my friend -- I shall never forget you.

Truly a bigger than life character, Maj Carpenter had a positive effect on so many of us during her years at Vernon Army Cadet Camp. I very much enjoyed working with her on the VACC reunions in 1994 and 1999, so much energy. You will be missed Enid, thank you.

I feel my heart sink as I write this. Here was a woman, a true lady in fact and one that all of us who ever had the pleasure to meet her at VACC during my years 1977 - 1980 came away being better people having met her for a long time over the years or for a brief second... To many of us, especially myself just getting a nod from her was something to be proud of. She had the ability to "read" a person and say and do little things that showed she cared. 

My condolences to her family and they and we, her other kids will see her again all in due time...I wish I could thank her for her guidance and the positive influence she had in my life and the lives of thousands of kids.

Major Carpenter was a favorite of mine.  Very very sad to hear of her passing.  My memories of her at VACC will stand with me forever.

I remember her well. I was a cadet in Vernon from 75 to 81. She was full of life and there were lots of stories to talk about. In 1980 while with Rambler staff she would bring out Nabob Traditional and we would boil up some camp coffee. I always had a bottled of whiskey buried behind the tent for her visits. Rest easy, your duty is done. We will see you again on parade.

Major Carpenter, what an incredible lady.  I worked with her and for her for many years.  She had more stamina than most of the young people at the camp.  I always missed her after I left Vernon. She is still an inspiration to me.

Enid was a wounderful woman! Thank you to the family for sharing her with us. I'm sure many a cadet and fellow officer learned from and enjoyed her knowledge, wisdom, and humour. Thank you Enid.

Sad to hear about her passing :( she showed a lot of Passion for the Cadet Org and was able to pass that knowledge to thousands. RIP

The tears are running freely as a very special friend has past, Enid was a huge part of my family growing up and as an adult. The memories she reminds me of are of happy times. My Mom and Enid had many, many laughs and supported each other through some tough times. I think of her often and the loss is deep. Now they are both gone and they can resume their friendship together and laugh some more.

Personally, I am terribly saddened to hear of the passing of this really fine officer and lady who served her country and the Army Cadet program so well for so many years. I very much enjoyed working with Major Carpenter during my service at Vernon and I will always remember her with great respect and affection.
