

Eric Rodney Lane, aged 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep of old age on July 18, 2026, at Elim Village seniors care home in Surrey, British Columbia.
Born in Birmingham, England, on September 26, 1932, Eric was the son of Percy and Elizabeth Lane. His industrious work ethic started early; at just 14 years old, he began delivering telegraphs for the post office. In 1950, Eric joined the Royal Navy, dedicatedly serving for 12.5 years as an Engineering Mechanic First Class / Stoker. Following his naval service, he worked as an automobile mechanic in England.
In in 1964 Eric and his first wife Winifred welcomed a son, Eric Steven Lane. In 1974 Eric married his his beloved wife, Jean Alice Lane, and the couple immigrated to Surrey, BC, Canada that same year. Eric spent 23 years working as a skilled mechanic and autobody worker at Pacific GMC (later Barnes Wheaton) until his well-earned retirement. Throughout his life Eric was a proud, long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Eric lived life to the fullest and had a wide variety of passions. He loved race car driving and NASCAR, travelling, camping, golf, bowling, reading, get togethers with family and friends, and collecting stamps and funny postcards. He held a deep affection for his dogs throughout his life, including his last faithful companion, Whisky.
Eric was sadly predeceased by his wife, Jean and his son Eric. He is survived by his sister, Pauline Wilkes, his nieces, his grandchildren (Regan and Aria), and a warm circle of extended family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with Jean.
