Miss Woloshyn taught Grade 5 in Marathon Ontario in the 1950’s.  She was a wonderful teacher and is being fondly remembered by the many  students she inspired on the  Marathon Hometowners Facebook site. 

Eva Davis was my Grade 5 teacher in Marathon, Ontario on or about 1958. I ran to school every day that year as she was magical in the class room. She would set up a display in the corner of the room with items from countries to which she had travelled. I remember her colourful Mexican artifacts vividly. I will soon be 70 and still cherish the booklets she had us make of art, birds and wildflowers. My heart nearly burst when she attended the 50th anniversary of Marathon and I was able to tell her in person how much I loved her!

My Auntie Eve was quite the character .I had many good times with her and Greg. Camping , Family dinners , Berry picking ,Going to the beach nothing but fun times.    ......

Eva Davis (nee Woloshyn) was born in a log cabin on a homestead in northern Saskatchewan in 1921. She spent her childhood years on a farm east of North Battleford, SK. After getting her teachers certificate at age 17, the aspiring teacher eventually found a position at a school in Brightsand, SK, the northern bush country.
Eva has written about her challenging time teaching in those northern backwater towns, in her book,' Brightsand and Bedbugs'; an insight into rural Canada in the 1930's and 40's.
Eventually, Eva obtained her advanced teaching degree at UBC, taught at the newly opened SFU, and spent the next 25 years teaching elementary school at K B Woodward School in north Surrey, BC. She retired in 1986, traveled the world extensively, and lived comfortably in White Rock, BC until the end, without a moments regret. RIP Eve Davis.
