December 20th, 1924 - May 26th, 2017
Pat Dennison enjoyed a life well lived and is greatly missed by her family and friends. Pat was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1943, Pat married Victor Dennison, with whom she had two sons, Daniel and Glen. After her husband passed away in an accident in 1959, Pat returned to work as a teletypist for the Canadian National Railway, while simultaneously raising her two young sons.
In 1965, Pat transferred within the Canadian Government, Department of Transport from Winnipeg to south Vancouver with her sons. In addition to owning a home in Vancouver, Pat built three cabins in her lifetime: one at Lake of the Woods, Ontario, one at Harrison Lake, BC, and one on the beach near Bellingham, Washington. She enjoyed boating, waterskiing, fishing, swimming, and always had a cabin improvement project on the go.
Pat retired in 1990, serving the government for over 31 years. In her retirement, Pat enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, and most of all, going to the casino. She loved playing the slot machines, and even at 92, could still be found pushing her walker to the casino to try her luck on the slots. Pat truly lived her life to the fullest throughout all her years.
Pat will be remembered for her energy, determination, generosity, outgoing personality, and for the example she set as a strong and independent woman. Pat was much loved and is survived by her sons, Dan and Glen, her granddaughters, Terri and Kelsey, and her nephew Fred Paterson and family.
The family would like to thank the management and staff of both Magnolia Gardens Seniors Home in Langley and Peach Portal Seniors Home in South Surrey for their support. At Pat's request, there will be no service. Instead, please consider making a donation to the BC Cancer Society.
