Fred was always a kind soul, I first met him when I saw a car he was selling in the newspaper in the early 90’s.  It was a Honda prelude and he could see how much I wanted that car but I had most of the funds and needed to borrow a bit. He took me to a notary, signed a quick contract that said I pay or the car returns to him and there the friendship started. 

I didn’t have parents that could help me financially growing up and I was still in high school but working at A&B Sound when I bought the car so he knew  that I could afford it. I was so grateful that he was willing to trust me like that. I was a total stranger but I showed up each month, paid off the car in 10 months and continued to pop out and say hello once in awhile as I really enjoyed visiting with Fred. He taught me accountability and responsibility in the little things and he told me to ask him if I ever needed help In the future.

We talked about Mexico, gardening, And Germany as quite a few of my relatives are German. At the time that I purchased my car from Fred, he had just finished a project on the Alex Fraser bridge so we talked about cool architecture, the growing cities, and life perspective from his years here and my young adult view.

I remember Fred telling me how much he loved Xtappa Mexico and we talked about how kind the people are in the small towns of Mexico. 

I think about Fred often and wish his family well and may he Rest In Peace.....🙏
