Gillian "Gill" Ann Compton

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gillian Ann, a devoted wife, cherished mother and grandma, loving sister, and treasured friend. After a courageous battle with cancer, Gill passed away peacefully September 23rd, with her loving husband at her side. throughout her illness she was surrounded by family and friends visiting her. While cancer may have ultimately taken her from us, it could never diminish her spirit, her smile, the sparkle in her eye, or the extraordinary love she gave so freely throughout her life.

At the heart of Gill's world was her family. She shared her life with her beloved husband, Michael, whose love and companionship were a constant through their 55 years. She was an incredibly proud and loving mother to her son, Andrew, and his wife Cori, and to her daughter, Caroline, and her husband Richard. One of her greatest joys was being a grandma to Ashton, Ava, Finn and Cole. The grandchildren brought immeasurable happiness to her life, as did the family pets (Fritz, Guinness, Bearsy, Rider, Oakley and Maple).

She will also be deeply missed by her sisters, Geraldin, husband Trevor and their family and Karen, husband Gord and their family. In addition, she will be missed by her sister-in-law, Gill and husband Brendan and brother-in-law Chris and family. She was predeceased by her mom and dad, Jessie and Gerald Hammond; sister Ruth and sister-in-law Liz Scaramanga.

In addition, she will be missed by the extended families, Terry and Bernice Tebb (Leeann and Steve, Cameron and Samantha) and Bruce and Lynne Baker (Tony).

Gill's life will be remembered for everything she leaves behind: the family she built, the people she loved, the laughter she shared, and the countless ordinary moments that now feel extraordinarily precious. Forever our wife, our mom, our grandma, our sister, our sister-in-law, our neighbour and our friend; forever in our hearts.
