Shortly after graduating grade 12, Gordon enlisted in the RCAP and was selected for pilot training. Successfully passing all phases of elementary, service and advanced training he was posted to England and entered the Frey with the RAF tactical squadrons flying twin engine B0ST0N BOMBERS. At war's end and return to Canada he was given his release and spent time seeking civilian employment. The political unrest in Europe and Asia brought it necessary to rebuild Canadian national defense. Canada again agreed to provide needed help in training pilots and navigators for Canadian, British and other allied personnel from Turkey, Germany. Gordon immediately reenlisted and entered the training demands. During this time he was posted to VANCOUVER - SEA ISLAND. While there he met, wooed and subsequently married Isobel. They were well matched. Both were interested and took to a warm Christian life. After Isobel's passing, Gordon carried on a meaningful Christian life living quietly and casually would display some interest in watching sports and playing golf. His main support arose through his close association with his pastor Ben Turner, and members of his congregation. Gord passed away three months after his 98th birthday.
