It is with great love and sadness that we share the passing of Guy Bernard Lemieux, who died peacefully at home on October 24, 2025, after living with Parkinson’s disease.
Born on Christmas Day, 1942, in Vancouver to Bernard (“Barney”) and Helen Lemieux, Guy grew up in White Rock, B.C. He spent countless happy hours on the beach, learning to swim in “The Tank” at the White Rock Pier. All the Lemieux children were strong swimmers, and Guy and his siblings went on to win many local awards.
After graduating from Semiahmoo Secondary, Guy earned a degree in Electrical Engineering at UBC (Class of 1966). Early in his career, he worked at many jobs, including as electrical superintendent at the pulp mill in Kamloops. He always dreamed of running his own company, and in 1979, while still in Kamloops, he founded Lex Engineering.
He was soon joined by his first employee, Paul Fuoco, who became a lifelong colleague and friend. While building his business, Guy also built his family’s home—doing much of the work himself after long days at the office. The house became a great source of pride; he loved giving guests a full tour of the details he had crafted by hand. Those years in Kamloops reflected his energy, determination, and deep sense of purpose.
Lex Engineering grew steadily under Guy’s leadership, earning a province-wide reputation for integrity, expertise, and trust. He moved his family back to White Rock and opened a new office in Vancouver, continuing his work throughout B.C. Known for tackling complex, high-voltage projects, Lex completed work for YVR, Simon Fraser University, TRIUMF, Alterra Power, and many others. Guy’s straightforward manner and belief in honest, good-faith relationships defined his approach to business. Those same values shaped Lex’s reputation for reliability and professionalism and guided the next generation of engineers who learned under his example.
Guy was an adventurer at heart. He loved to run and to ski—particularly at Todd Mountain (Sun Peaks) and found freedom and joy flying his beloved plane, CGUYL, across the skies of British Columbia. He enjoyed the precision of hunting, reloading his own ammunition, and sharing those pastimes with his grandchildren on trips to Sikanni for fishing and target practice.
Those who knew him will remember his curiosity, quiet humour, and steady warmth. He designed, explored, and led with creativity and care, leaving a legacy of ingenuity and integrity. Guy is survived by his wife, Ann Lemieux; his daughters, Sara, Theresa, and Melissa; and his brother, Marc. He was a proud grandfather to Niamh, James, Isabel, Jack, Will, Ben, and Kate.
Donations in his memory may be made to Covenant House Vancouver. Arrangements entrusted to Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre.
