Harvey Lloyd

Harvey Lloyd was born on May 4, 1938, living 88 good years before passing on July 22, 2026. Harvey’s loving memory is cherished by his wife, Lorraine Lloyd; his son, Lance Lloyd, and his wife Leah (Ethan, Connor, and Max); his daughter, Lindsay Hartmann, and her husband Sean (Kaleb, Micah, and Jace).

Harvey was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, uncle and grandfather to six boys. His wife, Lorraine, loved and respected him for 54 happy years. His grandsons gave him endless joy and pride with every visit and memory made. Harvey's playful nature was greatly enjoyed by his grandsons, always up for anything: from playing cards, hide and seek, dressing up in goalie gear for street hockey, or making crepes, cookies and muffins with them always in happy spirits.

At the young age of 19, his good friend, George Olson, asked him to join him up north to teach. He did so, but with only one year of college, he spent most summers at his sister Audrey Hamel's home in Richmond, while working nights on the railway, to complete his Bachelor of Education. He had a few long sleeps to catch up on rest, before he played with his nephews in their busy and full house. Doing this, Harvey paved the way for his young family members, to a life beyond their previous farming roots, in Enderby, BC, where his mother cared for him dearly alongside his four siblings, Georgina, Glen, Audrey, and Carol.

After completing his degree, Harvey ventured to the small town of Lake Cowichan to continue teaching. There he met and married his beloved Lorraine, and raised his family, while ambitiously gardening in many of his spare minutes. He ended his long career in education as a Principal of Honeymoon Bay Elementary School.

Harvey had a charm about him, a positive outlook, and a sensitive nature, always attune to those in need around him. He will forever be remembered for his compassionate heart, green thumb, quick wit, good humour, hard work ethic, and unending kindness he granted to everyone he met.

A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held on August 14th, with a 1:00pm mass at The Good Shepherd Church, followed with a reception at Victory Memorial Park from 2-5 pm, with the internment at 3:00 pm.

Harvey’s presence will be deeply missed; and his lessons and kindness will be forever remembered.
