He was predeceased in 2001 by Inge his first wife of 42 years. He is survived his son Mark (Lori), daughter Monique (Jeff), son Glen, and Ada’s loving family, especially her grandson Anthony, with whom Ian enjoyed sharing his career and army stories.
Ian served in Malaya, and upon finishing his tour there he followed his parents from Britain to Vancouver, Canada. After a short time working construction, he went on to serve in his adopted home with the Vancouver Police Department. He often would say, there wasn’t a day he did not enjoy getting up and going into work for them.
After 32 years dedicating his days between the Police Force and raising his 3 children, he retired at the age of 54 and took to the highways and byways travelling on his bike, peddling his way around BC and many parts of the world for the next 25 years. It was the best way to stop and smell the roses according to him.
He will be missed by many, including his Scottish, Sutherland family. Ian was very proud of his Scottish heritage. Ian had a great sense of humor, some of his quips and sayings will continue to ring pleasantly in our lives for years to come!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 27th, 2017 at 10:30am at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.
Donations can be made in Ian’s name to the Union Gospel Mission Vancouver. www.ugm.ca
