Grangeaud - Jacques Jean passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital, BC, on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022. We are grateful for the care he received throughout his stays in various Fraser Health hospitals.
Jacques is survived by Margaret (nee Hunt), his loving wife of 48 years, son Patrick (Robin), Thomas and Janine. He is also survived by sister Monique, brother Chris (Nila), brother-in-law Brian, sister-in-law Val (Andy), and predeceased by his sister Micheline and brothers-in-law Dave and Ed. Jacques is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, their beautiful children, and many dear friends.
Born in 1945 in Le Havre, France, he and his family moved to New York, then Montreal, before settling in Vancouver in 1963. Introduced by his sister Monique, Jacques and Margaret married in 1973. They lived in Langley, Richmond, and Vancouver, before making their home in Burnaby.
Jacques was an adventurer in his youth, and he and Margaret enjoyed travel and cruises together. Together, they made several trips to his homeland in France. For 28 years at Canada Post, Jacques was a reliable and conscientious employee until he retired in 2003. Post retirement, Jacques enjoyed a quieter lifestyle, engaging in various hobbies, and walking to the mall every day for a taco. He always had time for family and friends, and was an enormous support to so many in hard times.
Jacques was kind and generous, thoughtful and utterly reliable. He was a loving husband, a devoted and protective father, a caring brother and uncle, and a staunch friend. In lieu of a memorial service, we hope to celebrate Jacques’s life with family and friends at a later date.
