Son of Dr. James Reginald Digby and the late Mary Helen Hope Digby. Brother of Janet (Pat), Peter (Senta) and Graham (Julie). Brother-in-law of Nora (Gunther), Bea (Bruce) and Aurora (Mike), along with Lolita’s many older brothers and sisters. Adored uncle of nieces and nephews far and wide.
Born in Brantford, Ontario, Jeff had a typical Southern Ontario upbringing. Venturing out, he travelled Europe, headed west for Whistler and eventually landed in Vancouver, where he met Lolita. Together, they followed his work with Macmillan Bloedel and Weyerhaeuser between Vancouver and Athens, Georgia. Along the way, he gained a black belt in Taekwondo, golfed, skied and travelled. For the past eight years, Jeff and Lolita have happily split their time between White Rock, BC and Semiahmoo, Washington.
Jeff fought a valiant, eighteen month battle with Stage IV lung cancer supported by his lifelong friends from Brantford, his Digby cousins from Toronto, his long-time friends in Athens, his many friends from work in both countries and his new friends from Village Church in Surrey, BC. His journey was immeasurably lightened by the kind and committed care of his GP, Dr. Manraj Johal of White Rock.
Jeff will be remembered as a true gentleman who treated everyone with kindness, integrity and humility. He was also hard-working, fun-loving and appreciative of the blessings he had in life. In the face of his debilitating illness, Jeff showed us how to do it - with strength, grace and perseverance, with a steadfast faith in the Lord, and with humour. This final act of love makes his loss both harder and easier to bear. Thank you, Jeff. We miss you.
A service for Jeff will be held on September 13, 2017, at 12:00 pm at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Avenue, Surrey, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations to BC Cancer Foundation, www.bccancerfoundation.com, or Dalit Freedom Network Canada, www.dalitfreedom.ca/donate/, would be appreciated.
