June 1, 1934 – January 29, 2017
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Alexander London. He passed away peacefully on January 29th after a long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He will be forever loved and deeply missed by Lois (nee Hubner), the love of his life and wife of 62 years. Also broken-hearted are his three adoring children Mary (Rob), Sharon (Marc) and John (Sandra), and his five grandchildren, Andrew and Jamie, Julia and Stephanie and Max.
Born in Vancouver, Jack went on to spend his early teenage years living in what was then the little-known seaside hamlet of White Rock. When he was 18 years old he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, travelled the world and moved up the ranks to become a Navigator in 1954. In May of 1955, he was married to the love of his life, Lois and the two of them settled in Ottawa. In1959 he left the RCAF and in 1966 he moved his family to Montreal to join TransCanada Airlines, which later became Air Canada. Through dedication, hard work and his widely-recognized and much-admired artistic talents, Jack enjoyed 33 years there, earning the respect, admiration and love of those who worked with him.
Jack retired at 59 and he moved back to White Rock with his lovely bride Lois, where they were lucky to have made so many new and loving friends who they came to cherish dearly. They enjoyed many travel adventures during their 62 years of marriage. Jack loved to dance with Lois and he had a smile, kind words and a hug for everyone he met. Quite simply, he radiated love and joy – and everyone around him felt it.
Jack was a true gentleman in every way sense of the word. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, integrity, sense of humor, contagious smile, generosity and his artwork. Most of all though, he will forever be remembered for the tremendous love and pride he had for his family, which knew no bounds and which brought him more happiness than anything else on the planet.
If you knew Jack, you loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada in memory of Jack would be appreciated.
