We remember John from Blackburn Hamlet days with great fondness.  When we returned from Hong Kong in 1986  our house in the Hamlet needed new windows and John invited us over to see the new Pella windows they had just installed.  It convinced us to get Pella windows put in our house.  

When the Pillar Chapter of BC was formed John was one of the first to sign up.  Always enjoyed his company and it was pleasure to reconnect with him when we migrated to BC.

I knew John when in Security Service and it is with great regret to hear of his death.  He was a real nice guy my condolences to they family.

My sincere condolences to the family and all who knew John. I was fortunate enough to work with John in the Security Department at BCLC.  He was a very kind man.

John was a very good and loyal friend and he loved to help out.  Nelly and I both fondly remember when I was building our house in north surrey and I over did it and get sick (flu) and I slept for a week.  John and I both worked in A ops CSIS at the time.  Anyway John phoned on the Friday and asked Nelly how I was doing (I was still in bed).  Nelly had never met John and Rae before but said I had recovered and would probably be back to work next week   John asked if there was anything he could do and Nelly, without thinking said "do you know how to use a hammer John?" John said yes and on Saturday morning we went to the house and there was John waiting with hammer in hand with Rae in tow.  John and Rae also loved our visits to the restaurant at Northview Golf Course for breakfast.  John and Rae were both private people but we had a friendship that we will remember.  we miss you John and Rae.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad.  Over the last five years he always managed to come to our "HAPPY HOURS " and enjoyed. May the good memories of him over the years,  help you through this difficult time.  Joe  and Shirl   RIEHL,   WHITE ROCK.

Deepest condolences to John and Rae's family.   I enjoyed many happy hours with them.   My wife, Gail, and I had our first Christmas Eve dinner with them when we first arrived in Sudbury. Rae's great lasagna dinner was ever so good.  Then, both John and Rae and Gail and I had set the same day for our weddings.  To relieve the problem of having both John and me away from Sudbury at the same time, John and Rae advanced their wedding day two weeks so that I could travel to PEI to get married to Gail.   On our way home we passed John and Rae on the highway on their, I believe, honeymoon.   So many good times.

We will  miss John, as we miss Rae.  For so many years we hosted each other, John and sometimes Rae as well when he came to spend time with Aunt Mary when she was in Salem Home.  And all the times  I flew out there to visit my mom.  They always provided an airport pickup, a wonderful guest room and a car so I could make  the trip to Abbotsford.  And when my dad has his stroke,  John drove to the hospital and stayed with my mom till my family could get there.  
Your parents hosted us and our children when we came out for the funeral, and again several years later when my mom remarried.  
Your parents often made the trip to Abbotsford to have lunch with my mom and check on how she was doing.  
Their home was always available to us,  and we greatly appreciated the help you all were getting our grandson settled when he came to Vancouver for his first job after college.  
We have so many good memories.
