It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Margaret Wheeler, aged 100 years, on August 23, 2026, in Surrey, B C. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Marion and William (Bill); both of her brothers, William (Will) and James (Jim); and her husband, Arthur. She is survived by her daughters Heather, Donna, Laurie, Holly, and Janice; her grandchildren, Brian, Gordon, Deanna, Christie, Megan, Glen, and Grant; and her great grandchildren, Ben and Eamon.
Joyce and Arthur were married in Saskatoon in 1950. After their marriage they lived for a short time in southern Alberta before joining Joyce's parents who were then living in Richmond, B. C. With their family expanding, they bought a home on an acreage and began to operate a small blueberry farm business on the property. In 1968, the couple moved to Burnaby, B. C. They relocated again to White Rock, B. C., in 1975. After Arthur entered long term care, Joyce moved into Pacific Carlton, then Oceana Parc, and finally Amica.
For many years, Joyce worked for the Royal Bank in various branches around the Lower Mainland including Richmond, Burnaby, and Ladner, B. C.
The extended family will remember the good times spent with Joyce and Arthur at their cabin on Bowen Island. They will also remember the many holiday dinners and outdoor picnics.
Joyce will be remembered as a resilient woman with an independent spirit. She showed kindness and generosity to all.
Thank you to the Staff of the Memory Care Unit at Amica for their compassionate care.
Cremation. No Memorial Service by Request. There will be an informal gathering for the family in a few months.
