It is with great sadness that we share with you that Leonard Wigness passed away January 1, 2024, at the age of 94 to be with his beloved wife Pamela. Len is fondly remembered as being a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, Papa and friend to all. He had a real soft spot for animals and children and was full of kind mischief and always ready to laugh and joke with anyone.
Len was born in 1929, in another era, on” the farm” near Admiral SK to parents of Norwegian descent. The eldest of four children, he was the ringleader to his 2 brothers, Virgil and Dale – “Them Damned Vigne Boys” and got into all sorts of “adventures” that his sister Lucille couldn’t keep them out of. Len recalled plowing fields with horses, working on a CP extra gang and driving the Big Bend before the Revelstoke and Mica Dams were built. After arriving in the lower mainland in the late 1940's, he got a job at a plywood mill, met a stunning young woman named Pam, courted her despite his shyness, and married her. They settled down in a tiny home on The Flats in Surrey surrounded by family and their joy was hosting weekend get-togethers full of music and laughter. Around 1980 they purchased a home in Newton and remained the centre of laughter and fun! Never afraid of hard work or the opportunity to lend a helping hand, it seems every story of Len is told with a broad smile and a fond recall of his mischievous kindness and generosity. He was very much loved and will be sorely missed.
A memorial service for Leonard will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services Fraser Heights Chapel, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, BC V3R3N6, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
