Les was born Leonard Leslie Begg on October 4th, 1954 in Alexandria, Minnesota, to David Leonard Begg and Mary Magdalene (Brayshaw). His mother gave birth to him on a train while travelling from Canada to visit his dad in the Rochester Mayo Clinic. As a result Les became a dual citizen. Les grew up in North Vancouver, B.C. Les grew up in North Vancouver, B.C. His early jobs included working in a carwash as well as driving a Zamboni at the rink where Olympic figure skater Karen Magnussen practiced. After seriously hurting his shoulder working as a welder on structural steel, Les found his ultimate passion as a long- haul trucker. Donna joined Les on the road in 2005. They visited every province and state in North America with the exception of Alaska (Donna has the fridge magnets to prove it). Their time on the road included laughter, sight-seeing, meeting interesting people, being alert to insane drivers and surviving three tornadoes. Les was admired by his peers for his excellent driving skills. During his career, he worked for companies such as South Coast, Load Runner and H&R Transport. At one time he also owned and oversaw the operation of five trucks. Les was forced to retire in October, 2012 due to health complications. In early 2013, Les began attending Gracepoint’s Sunday Night Dinner. Les and Donna were baptized on December 28th, 2014 in the presence of their church family. Les leaves behind Donna (Goddard), daughters Keri Oberg (Chad) and Lisa Braun (Pete), and sons Jason (Cindy) and Michael, as well as nine grandchildren. We are thankful that Les is resting in the arms of Jesus Christ his Lord, where there is no more pain, sorrow or tears.
