Linda was born in November 1960, in Montreal, PQ, and moved with her family to BC in 1969.
Linda held several positions throughout her working life, but of all the work she did, the role that meant the most to her was being a mother. Linda dedicated many years to raising her children and being a stay-at-home mom, putting her family at the center of her life.
She officially retired in 2020 and was enjoying her newfound freedom by spending time with her family and her friends. She especially enjoyed summer camping trips and her annual trip to Vegas with her husband Dave. She also loved going on local adventures with her good friend Mariana.
Linda enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; beginning her morning with a cup of tea, Sunday dinner with her family and going for a brisk walk. She always had to “get her steps in” whether that meant a walk through her neighbourhood, going for a hike in one of the local parks, walking the Stanley Park seawall with her sons, or even just wandering the local mall on a cold or rainy day.
Linda is survived by her husband of 33 years, David White, sons Mitchell and Matthew, brothers Larry Burgess (Brenda), Bryan Burgess (Jaime), father-in-law Michael White, sister-in-law Michelle Bentham (Dean) and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was predeceased by her father Robert Burgess, her mother Beverley Burgess, and her mother-in-law Carol White.
Linda was the rock of our family. She was the person we could always rely on – the person who was there to help, to listen, to give advice, or to just be beside us when we needed her. Linda cared deeply about the people she loved. Linda was always thinking ahead, planning family gatherings, or gently encouraging others to make plans so the entire family could spend time together. She made sure birthdays and anniversaries were remembered, often reminding the rest of us when an important date was coming up. In so many ways, Linda was the thread that kept the family connected.
There is no describing the huge hole in our hearts, and the pain that comes with that. Our lives will never be the same without her laughter, love, and her presence. The room will always feel empty without her.
