On July 20 2021, Heaven gained an angel. Our adored Mother Lois London, quietly passed away from a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Mom was predeceased by our Father Jack London and her sister Joyce. She is survived by her adoring children Mary (Rob), Sharon (Marc) and John (Sandra). She will be profoundly missed by them, and by her grandchildren Andrew (Lana), Jamie, Julia, Stephanie and Max as well as by her nieces Judy and Mary-Ellen and nephew David.
Mom was selfless and always put others first. She was the kindest soul imaginable and she loved her family and friends fiercely. Famous for her fabulous entertaining, she was a skilled and generous hostess; she delighted in welcoming family and friends into our loving home. She loved good food, fine wine and martinis (extra dry, one olive). Travelling was her passion; from riding bareback on camels in Egypt to learning how to hula dance in Waikiki, she revelled in sharing these adventures with Jack. She even once rode on the back of a motorcycle. She said we tricked her into doing it. As always, she was right.
She had the patience of a Saint, even when tested repeatedly by her loving children. She was nurturing, supportive and unselfish. A true Mama Bear, she was her children’s #1 Fan. She supported us in everything we did. She was our forever cheerleader. Her absolute priority in life was her family and she made sure that we knew it every single day.
She was always a giver - never a taker. She loved to giggle. She loved to dance with Dad. She loved dinner parties and socializing and playing bridge. She did not like ironing but she did it with a smile on her face so Dad could always look nice for work.
She was proud of and enjoyed volunteering and did so with The Catholic Women’s League, the Peace Arch Rotary Club and the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary.
She and Dad were inseparable. The love they shared was admired by all who knew them. They were head over heels in love with each other, even after 60+ years of marriage. Their eyes still sparkled when the other entered a room. The love they had for each other was unmistakable and everyone who knew them marvelled at their affection and admiration for each other.
We take solace in knowing that they are now reunited. They belong together. Life without Dad has been very difficult for Mom. Dear God, please wrap our Mother in your loving, gentle arms and please, play some great music so she can keep dancing with the love of her life, Jack. They both loved Perry Como and Frank Sinatra.
You are, and forever will be, our Queen, Mama. Your wings were ready, our hearts were not. We love you more than you’ll ever know. Rest in beautiful, comforting peace... and never stop dancing.
We wanted to thank the incredible caregivers at the Fort Langley Seniors Center who were so loving and gentle with our Mom; your unwavering compassion made all the difference, not only to Mom but to all of us, too.
A mass will be held on Friday, July 30th at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Church in White Rock, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://alzheimer.ca/bc/en.
We love you Mom, Forever,
Mary, Sharon and John
