

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lou Knippelberg of Surrey, BC. Lou passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday February 28, 2020 at Laurel Place Hospice after a short battle with cancer.
Lou was born the youngest of eight children on June 8, 1945, in Blumenthal, Germany. Lou moved with his family to Oliver, BC in 1949 until 1965 when he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was stationed in Montreal, Quebec where he met the love of his life; Lesley. Lou and Lesley were married on March 6, 1967. Soon after, their son Sean was born. In 1971, Lou and his family moved back to Oliver to help run the family orchard and he trained to be a mechanic. Shortly after returning to Oliver, his daughter Debbie was born. In 1972 Lou, Lesley and their kids moved to Vancouver and eventually settled in Surrey while he worked at Crown Packaging for the following 33 years until his retirement.
Lou was a dedicated husband and father and a loving Opa to his 3 grandkids. Lou’s biggest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching sports and the news on TV, going to the casino with Lesley and attending family reunions. Lou will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his kindness and love and loyalty for his family. He will be forever in our hearts.
Lou was predeceased by his parents Adam and Rosina Knippelberg, brothers and sisters Adam, Rudy, Karoline, Mary, Alwine and Adolf.
Lou is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lesley (nee Meares); son Sean (Loretta) and their two sons Jacob and Joshua; daughter Debbie (Ron Braun) and their daughter Kelly; brother Helmut and many nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life gathering for Mr. Lou Knippelberg has been postponed until further notice.
