We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Louis George Gattrell on September 23rd, 2016, at Surrey Memorial Hospital at the age of 86 years.
Lou was born in Manitoba on June 16th, 1930. He loved family and the outdoors. Raised on a farm as a child with his five brothers and one sister, he appreciated fresh air and Mother Earth. He enjoyed many a day at the beach, skiing in the mountains, and camping with family. Every season he would have a garden and share the harvest. Lou had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed making others laugh with his observations of life. Lou could turn any mishap or challenge into humour. He had the inner and outer strength of a soldier, and did serve in the infantry with the Canadian armed forces in Europe during peace time. Lou was a gentle, imaginative being, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. Lou is with God, and with that we take comfort.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Judy, and daughters Lori (Sandra), Tanja (Andy), & stepchildren Katrina (Andy), Mark (Emma), and Laura (Dean). He will also be fondly remembered by his sister Joyce and brother Albert, his 7 step grandchildren, his many nephews and nieces, and many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his grandson Isaah, and brothers Jim, Victor, Bill, and Ernest.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Helen's Church Anglican Church, at 10787, 128th street, Surrey, BC.
