

Margaret was born February 5, 1925 in Detroit and passed away peacefully April 23, 2013 in White Rock. She was predeceased by her husband Tom Blake in 1997 and her grandson Peter Barteluk in 1998. Predeceased by all her brothers and sisters. Margaret was also predeceased by her favourite Dachshund (weiner dog) “Fanny”. Margaret is survived by her loving children; daughter, Virginia Barteluk (Gerry); son, Bill Blake; daughter, Margaret Jennifer Glover (Gary); her loving granddaughter, Jennifer Barteluk in Brussels, Belgium and many nieces and nephews in BC and Ontario.
Margaret was a loving mother who loved to garden, cook and play bridge and she was good at it. She loved classical music and the music/poetry of Leonard Cohen. As a young woman, she sang a lot of solos. She particularly loved singing with the Greater Vancouver Operatic Society, especially the year circa 1961 when they joined the chorus of Aida at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Margaret enjoyed following politics in the paper and on the television. She was a proud member of the Liberal’s Laurier Club.
A viewing will be held, Monday, April 29th at 10:30am, followed by a graveside service at Victory Memorial Park on Monday, April 29th at 11:30am; address, 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes or Lung Associations would be appreciated.
