OBITUARY

Marguerite Frances Howard

15 September, 19356 September, 2020

With great sadness, our family announces our mother's passing, Marguerite Howard, Margie, Marg, Mum, late of New Westminster, formerly of Vancouver at Royal Columbian Hospital in her 84th year. She is predeceased by her husband, H. Stephen Howard in 1973, and is lovingly remembered by her children Stephanie (Fred) and Craig.

Margie was the eldest child born to Vera and Sam Cosco of Vancouver. She is predeceased by her two sisters Yvonne and Diane, and she is missed by her sister Carol and brother Sammy (Martha) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and friends.

Mum loved sports, dancing, art, music, and animals especially her ‘grand-puppies’. She had a passion for reading, cooking and baking, nature and the great outdoors, and could always be found tending to her garden. She was never short on opinions, especially when it came to her beloved Vancouver Canucks and Whitecaps.

Our family wants to extend our deepest gratitude to the Fraser Health's Home Support Services, the paramedics, and Royal Columbian Hospital staff who provided our mother with exceptional and compassionate care.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held.

In memory of our mother please consider a donation to the Stephen Howard Memorial Scholarship at UBC for a first-year student in the Master of Physical Therapy Program that Marguerite established in memory of her beloved husband.

The loss is immeasurable

I received the obituary notice of Margie’s passing from cousin Frank Cosco. My father was Joseph Cosco brother to your father and grandfather Sam. I would like to share an early memory I have of Margie when I was a small child I remember her distinct, lovely voice. Her voice always stayed with me when thinking of Margie. Many yearsLater I was on a phone call to a doctor’s office in Vancouver and the person that I was speaking to I recognized her voice. To my surprise I was talking to my older cousin Margie!! I live in Grand Forks, B.C. and though far away from all of you I send hugs and comfort to all of you. Hold onto happy memories. Michele

To Stephanie and Craig,

I will always have fond memories of visiting my cousin Margie at her house off Dunbar. I loved her engaging, generous spirit of fun and laughter in the countless stories she shared of growing up in Vancouver.
I long admired her faithful torch of enduring compassionate care for Uncle Sam in his later years at the house. The special care you two have shown for your Mom reminds me this lit torch has been proudly passed on.

Forever take care to you both and family.
David Cosco

Dear Craig and family I was very saddened to hear of Marguerite's passing. As you know we shared a passionate love for the Vancouver Canucks and we could talk for hours about them. I include a picture of us and Joe-Ann taken in Whistler 1996. We attended the training camp for the World Cup of Hockey - Trevor Linden was a participant as was Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier - we were thrilled to see them. We had such a wonderful day!

I know how much you will miss her!

Marguerite believed in me and hired me right out of MOA school. She taught me integrity, respect and belief. She was an amazing woman and thankful she was in my life. Our hearts goes out to Craig, Stephanie and all the family.❤️❤️🙏
