September 30, 1932 – September 18, 2026
Anita passed away peacefully in Langley, British Columbia, on September 18, 2026, just twelve days shy of her 94th birthday.
Anita was born on September 30, 1932, in Saskatchewan to Joseph and Aurore (Boucher) Charbonneau. She grew up on the family farm near Leoville as the eldest of seven children. Proud of her French-Canadian heritage and faith, Anita completed her schooling with distinction, earning her Grade 11 French diploma from l'Association Catholique Franco-Canadienne de la Saskatchewan in 1952.
Anita later moved to Vancouver, where she met the love of her life, Norman Alsip. They were married in Vancouver on May 21, 1954. Their journey together took them across western Canada—first living in Winnipeg and then settling for many wonderful years in Calgary, where they raised their young family. In 1981, they returned to British Columbia, establishing their home in Coquitlam and later Langley. Anita and Norman shared over 60 devoted years together until Norman's passing in February 2015.
Above all else, Anita was dedicated to her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, quiet strength, and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She took immense joy in family gatherings, tracking generations of family history, and watching her grandchildren grow.
Anita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman (2015); her parents, Joseph (1988) and Aurore (2006) Charbonneau; her sister, Alida Halpape (1975); her brothers, Denis Charbonneau (1983), Romeo Charbonneau, and Clarence Charbonneau (2025).
She is survived and deeply missed by her three children:
• Debbie (Al Pacholik)
• Randy (Debbie)
• Richard (Lorna)
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren: Cullen (Jessica), Jarren (Kayla), Laura (Steve Bowen), Cameron, Ashley (Jesse Mclean), Amanda (Jerry Watson), and Jessica (Lindsey Swan); her great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Mary Charbonneau; her surviving brothers: Lionel (Terry) and Richard (Monica); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services, Fraser Heights Chapel in Surrey, BC.
A Celebration of Life will be held on:
• Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
• Time: 1:00 PM
• Location: Langley Lions Housing Society, 5464 203rd Street, Langley, BC
