 Michael thank you for giving me this picture March 4th, 1983. Such a memorable day I will never forget. 

I worked with Mike at the Regional Crown Counsel office. He was an outstanding indefatigable colleague who was always very generous with his time, knowledge and Scotch (at the end of the work week). I played hockey with him a few times and I believe he was still using the pads he used when he puckstopped the Vernon team to the 1965 BC juvenile hockey championship. He was very much missed by the office when he retired. My condolences for your huge loss.

I was blessed to be a close friend of Mike, going all the way back to St. Mark's College.  We took as many scuba diving trips to Vanc. Island as we could fit in.  I'll always remember his kindness, his loyalty and his wacky, often irreverent sense of humour, always accompanied by that infectious Burt Lancaster grin.  You were the best, Mike.

Mike Luchenko was a goaltender on the 1965 Vernon Juvenile Hockey Team that won the BC Juvenile Hockey Championship.

We will always remember all of the times we have spent together, the vacations, the silly photo's.  We are grateful to have known and loved Mike.
We will miss him, but hold him dear in our hearts.

I am very saddened to hear that Mike is gone.  I met Mike in 1966 while living at St. Marks College, the Catholic men's residence at UBC.  We became friends and scuba diving buddies and he came to my parents' place in Nanaimo where we dived a number of times. In fact it was my mother, aged 89, who noticed Mike's obituary today.  Needless to say he left an great impression with my family in many ways.

Vivian Merchant, Graduate with Michael at Clarence Fulton Senior Secondary School, 1965.   Condolances to Partner Faye, Daughter Alexandra, Son Michael Jr, and to Mike's sisters on the loss of Michael.  I have many fond memories of our high school times together, the meetings we had during university days (Mike at UBC, myself at Simon Fraser University), and the many reunions and Jim's Barbeques that we've had since my wife and I returned to Vernon in 2005.
