I joined the Grinders hockey team last season (2017-18), midway through the year. I hadn't played hockey in 10 years, and didn't really know anyone on the team. All the guys made me feel welcome, but Nathan especially so. His kindness and generosity were evident immediately, and that's something I'll always appreciate about Nathan. His attitude towards his teammates was always positive and supportive, and what was most impressive to me was how genuine he was. To some people (me included), being positive and supportive takes a concerted effort, but with Nathan it was clear this was simply who he was. He will be greatly missed out there on the ice, and even more so in the dressing room.
