Nikki was born in Vernon, BC. but grew up in Kelowna. She was a curious, busy and happy little girl. She never liked to wear socks almost from day one. However she loved her shoes. She loved it whenever she got new ones. At very young age she knew what shoes she wanted and got them. She had many friends and even as young as 3 years old she organized the games and activities. She went to daycare where she loved all the kids, teachers and activities except for nap time. As she got a bit older she enjoyed her dance, skating and being a Pioneer Girl. She also took swimming lessons and took to the water like a fish. Nikki loved going to her Dad and Val’s and they would take her camping, to ball games and their whole family went to Disneyland and that was a huge highlight for her. Nikki enjoyed going for picnics and the beach with Shawn & I. She had so much fun going camping with her grandparents too. Nikki loved babysitting and she really enjoyed children. Once Nikki was in middle school and high school she was involved in the band and singing in Choir. She had a love for music and as a family we would sit around on Saturday nights and listen and sing to music. As a family we all went to Willow Park Church and she was Mary in the first Living Nativity. She also enjoyed the two mission trips to Watson Lake where they put on Summer Camps for the young children up there. While she was there she enjoyed playing with the children, having fun in the mud pits and teaching the children about Jesus. While going to school and after graduation she had a few different jobs.
In 2009 Nikki moved to Grande Prairie and worked as a retail sales clerk. She moved to the Lower Mainland and worked as a manager in retail business. Nikki changed her career to banking and she was promoted many times and loved her job at Coast Capital. She really enjoyed her co-workers , had fun times and liked that she was able to volunteer through her work.
Rob and Nikki first met each other in high school and then years later they reconnected and their love story began. They got engaged in Mexico and married a year later. They both enjoyed camping, paddle boarding and time with family and friends. Rob has been such a loving, caring, and supportive husband. Nikki loved Rob with all her heart. She loved to cook dinners for him and she told me often that she was so grateful and thankful that he was her hubby. They both loved the life they shared together. Lily was their fur baby and she went everywhere with them. Nikki and Rob loved to travel to sunny destinations. They enjoyed times in Mexico alone and also with Dan & Val. We had a wonderful time taking a trip to Tofino with Nikki and Rob. They loved Palm Springs and the next time they went it was a road trip and they fell in love with San Francisco. They also enjoyed coming to Kelowna to camp and spend time at the beach.
Nikki was a beautiful, strong, lovely lady inside and out. She was diagnosed with Scleroderma four years ago. It damaged her lungs and other organs. Nikki recommitted her life to the Lord early in the year of 2024. She had a double transplant on August 31, 2024. She was in the hospital not well when she got the call that they had a pair of lungs for her. She told me it was the most special gift she ever received in her life. Every challenge she faced she took it on with such grace and courage. She was such a brave warrior who battled hard to get back to life. She almost died 5 days after her transplant but by prayer and petition Jesus healed her. We all called her our miracle girl even the medical staff and that’s who she was until the day she went home to Jesus. She told me how Jesus gave her his strength and was a refuge to her in times when it just got too hard. She worked very hard through her rehab and she learned to eat, talk and walk again. She was enjoying life to the fullest. She was out doing what she loved best looking in second hand book stores, eating out lunches and dinner’s at times , shopping for shoes and clothes of course! One thing we can’t forget she loved shopping for her candy. She was enjoying time with Rob, family, fur baby Lily, fur sister Kensi and friends. Rob and all her family were amazed by how quickly she turned a corner in July. 2025. We all had opportunities to pray and encourage Nikki along the difficult road she travelled. Nikki was always ready to help others out, even when she was sick in the hospital she would listen to nurses and other patients that needed a listening ear. Nikki made a wonderful friend Max while she was at GF Strong. They both understood each other as they both had the lung transplant and failing kidneys. Those two ladies hit it off and were like two peas in a pod. Nikki never knew how much her light shone so brightly in other peoples lives. She inspired family and friends by the way she lived out her life. She lit up the room and her laugh was so contagious. She was so kind, caring and loving. She was so encouraging, always ready to help out anyone that needed a helping hand. She knew life wasn’t fair but she accepted whatever came at her with such dignity and strength. She told me she wished she could have thanked everyone that supported her and prayered her through these past few years of her illness. She knew she was a miracle girl and was so grateful to God for that. Nikki’s life was gone way too soon and she will be forever missed but never forgotten. Heaven just gained another angel. I’m sure she’s having a a great time with all those who went before her. We miss her so much but her work here on earth is done. She made the most out of everyday and had so much joy to get a second chance at life. We are all so thankful for the years we did have with her and we all made the most of it. She will forever be in our hearts and we will see her again one day. Thanks again to everyone for all your ongoing prayers, support and love. When you see a butterfly 🦋 think of her and remember how much she loved us all. Rob and Lily send their love to you. Sweet daughter we all send our love to you. This is not goodbye just so long.
I know Nikki would want everyone to remember all the great memories she made with everyone she loved.
We would like to express our thanks to Dr. Ye, the nurses and the rest of her medical team at VGH that gave us and her more time together. We would also like to thank all the medical staff at GF Strong for all their help that they got her back home. Many thanks to the paramedics that got her to Surrey Memorial and for the wonderful doctors and nurses there who took such good care of Nikki and us as she was transitioning to heaven.
