It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Noel Alleyne Edwards on February 14, 2019 at the age of 87. He is survived by his sons, Richard Edwards (Donna) and Alan Edwards (Trudy). He is also survived by his siblings, Hazel Hutchinson (Geoffrey), Ian Edwards (Valerie), and Richard Edwards (Jessica), and also his sister-in-law, Wendy (Owen) Edwards as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by Dorothy (Edwards) Keegan and Kay Edwards.
Noel was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Violet (Clarke) Edwards, his brothers, Harry Edwards and David Edwards and sister-in-law, Daphne (Leach) Edwards, as well as his nephew Steven Edwards and his great niece, Allison Dickinson.Noel was born in Barbados, West Indies and emigrated to Canada in 1951. He had a successful career in the Canadian banking industry in senior management positions with Canada Permanent Trust Company (now T.D. Canada Trust) and had an opportunity to live in many cities in Canada with his family due to his career. He subsequently retired to the Lower Mainland of B.C.
Our father was passionate about tennis and was an active member of the White Rock Tennis Club for many years. As a young man he loved to play cricket as well as many other sports. As a teenager in Barbados, he also loved raising prized roosters and generally loved all animals. He loved nature, taking walks, biking, golfing and gardening. He also enjoyed other activities such as reading, travel, dancing, music and spending time with his family. Dad was always proud of his construction skills especially building his first family home in Montreal. Dad was generous with his time and volunteered for many charities including Meals on Wheels, United Way, Rotarians and the United Church.
