Otto Voute passed away peacefully at Surrey Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Otto was born in Semarang, Indonesia to Aime and Christina (Schilperoort) and is survivor of the internment camps of WWII. After his emancipation he came to the Netherlands, married Adriana Johanna (Atie) Van Senus in 1955 and had two children, Michiel (1956) and Erik (1958). In 1959 he obtained his Civil Engineering degree and in 1960 he immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, and it was here that Gregory (1963) and Adrienne (1969) were born. In 1971 he came west and settled in Tsawwassen, BC where he eventually became Delta’s Director of Engineering services, a post he held form many years. He was a lover of the outdoors, of hiking, sailing and windsurfing. For many years he found great pleasure in rowing the Deas slough. He was also an avid photographer and along with his wife spent many summer days tramping the mountains around their cabin in Sunshine Valley, Hope, looking for the elusive alpine meadows full of the flowers Atie loved. He cared for and supported Atie for many years at home after her debilitating accident, but sadly she predeceased him in 2009. He was a generous and loyal husband, father and Opa to many and he will be grievously missed.
He is lovingly remembered by his children; Michiel, Erik, Greg and Adrienne, and many in-laws; Cunera, Joanne, Paul, Anne (ex-uxor), Josephine and Sandra. His grandchildren Kerste, Piet, Christopher, Skylar, Hanneke and Lynden will fondly remember their Opa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 6th, 2019 at the Chesapeake Landing - 5900 Ferry Road - in the Clubhouse Community Room.
