In Loving Memory

Bob, as he was known to family and friends, was a devoted husband and partner to his wife of 65 years, Marion. He was adored by his daughters Elizabeth Miller (Lou) and Carolyn Olcott (Mark). He is also survived by his sister Joan Heppelle (Denis) of Nanaimo, BC.

He was born in Toronto, Ontario to Charles E and Jean Halpin, late of Honolulu. When a young child, Bob moved frequently with his family due to his father’s career. This gave Bob the itch to travel and live in various countries at a young age. After marrying Marion in 1960 in Edmonton, Alberta, they lived in 4 different countries and traveled the world over in the Petroleum business.

Bob graduated from Queen’s University in 1957 and eventually held many positions including Chairman of TransGlobe Energy Corp, VP of International Exploration & Production at Petro-Canada (Calgary) and similar positions at Saga Petroleum ASA (Oslo) and Trend International Ltd. (Denver). After retirement he advised organizations interested in international energy projects in the area of exploration and production.

In business and in his personal life Bob always wanted everyone to be treated fairly and loved sharing his experiences with those interested in a similar career. Most important to Bob, regardless of where he lived, was his pride in being Canadian.

Bob was grateful for his long, wonderful life. Best husband and Dad ever! He will be remembered and missed by many.

No funeral services will be held per his request. The family wish is to honour Bob’s memory by being kind to others.
