Born in 1931 in Winnipeg on the north end, he moved to Vancouver as a youngster alongside his family, and began his life here on the East Side in Strathcona.
As a young man he played hard and read voraciously. He was as at home in the library as he was on the street, especially with his friend Norm.
As an adult Rockmill loved golf, politics, horses, philosophy, boxing, Lautrec, and pretty much any heated debate he could get within arms length of. He had an extraordinary command of the English language and could spin a tale like few others. He’d have a captive audience.
Rocky was shockingly adventurous and devastatingly complex: he studied Russian Literature alongside History and Law.
We love him for his strengths, strive to learn from his weaknesses, and wish to extend a full hearted invitation to all to join his wife, Alexandra, his children, Haley, Alix, Bo Ellen and Lindsay, and his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Tanner, Connor and Jordan for funeral services and reception.
