"Steve"
28th April 1963 - 30th March 2026
Born Sunday 28th of April 1963 to Stephen Murphy Morris and Sussanne Lillian Morris of North Vancouver, British Columbia.
Steve passed away after a brief stay in Hospice in Surrey, British Columbia on March 30, 2026.
Steve is fondly remembered by his close friends of many years Bal & Mo Oppal, their daughter Tamaya, and his other close friends Wade Smith and Yvonne Crabb. All of whom were like family to him, often spending Christmas and Birthdays together.
Steve will be sorrowfully missed by his UBC team members, his City of Vancouver team, numerous friends and associates from his many years of service.
Steve had a long and dedicated career in Security, starting with The Pinkerton Security Agency in the 1980's, and then many years of dedicated service to the University of British Columbia.
Steve especially enjoyed his duties as a Communication's Operator for the Com Op Team, where he liked to help train, and work with new people.
At UBC many co-workers thought the world of him and appreciated Steve's advice and experience. Steve had a tremendous gift for storytelling. Over the years many of us had the pleasure to listen to his funny stories. Soon you were pulled into them, and it didn’t take long for the whole room to be filled with laughter.
The collecting of vintage emergency equipment was one of Steve's favorite hobbies, along with a variety of security related memorabilia.
It is asked that in lieu of flowers that a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society is made in Steve's memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held this Summer, and adequate notification will be released closer to that time.
