

Arrangements under the direction of Victory Memorial Park FunIt is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sheila Mellis (nee Douglas) who passed away suddenly on March 4, 2014. Sheila was born in 1957 in Montreal, Quebec where she lived until she moved to British Columbia in 1975. She loved children so she studied education at UBC, graduating with a degree in education. As fate would have it, teaching jobs were not in abundance as she entered the work place. Fortunately, her education and skills were very suited to the banking industry where she remained for 35 years.
Sheila was a devoted employee and cared deeply for staff and colleagues. Consequently,for the past 20 years she worked in human resources. Her job took her across Canada, where she established many friendships.
In Sheila's limited spare time, she was a voracious reader, enjoying novels of many description particularly those with a legal theme. She was also a serious hockey fan and unabashed Canucks fan, much to the chagrin of her colleagues in Edmonton and Toronto.
Sheila will be very sadly missed by her loving husband Gord Mellis, mother Jamie Douglas, brother Ian (Kathy) Douglas, brothers-in-law Glen (Jackie) Melllis , Rob Mellis and sister in law Cheryl ( Allan )Sheila also leaves to mourn her, nieces and nephews and many other relatives, friends and colleagues to numerous to mention.
Should you wish to acknowledge Sheila, in lieu of flowers she would have wished that her charity, Children's Miracle Network and Heart Stroke Foundation be supported.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held, Friday, March 14th at 1:00pm at Victory Funeral Centre, 14831 28 Ave, Surrey,BC
