Terezia "Nelly" Elena Andras
It is with profound sadness that we announce the shocking and sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Mother-in-Law, Nelly Terezia Elena Andras (also known by many as Nenny).
Nelly was born in Arad, Romania where she worked as a watchmaker. She was married to Emeric on July 27th, 1968. Shortly after her marriage to Emeric, Andrea was born in 1969 and six years later, Mariana surprised the family in 1975. By this time, Nelly’s brother, sister-in-law and niece moved to Canada and Nelly’s parents followed soon after. For 4 ½ years Nelly persisted on attending the passport office in Romania on a weekly basis attempting to secure travel documents so they too could join the rest of the family in Canada. Nelly’s wish came to fruition on Christmas Day in 1979, she was reunited with her parents, brother and brother’s family, along with a few new Hungarian/Canadian friends at YVR (Vancouver, BC).
Nelly was a kind, caring and giving person who always met the needs of her family before
her own. She was a determined woman who faced every challenge in life with courage and strength. Nelly dedicated her entire life to creating a warm and nurturing home - Nelly and her kitchen were the heart of her home. The endless sweets, canned goods, and freshly made ready-to-eat casseroles were always waiting for us, no questions asked. Nobody ever left Nelly’s home without a “goody bag”. Nelly was known to leave her Dark Chocolate Dipped Almond Biscotti treats everywhere she went and with everyone she met. She never left home without them.
Nelly is survived by her daughters, Andrea Miklos (Andy Voth) and Mariana Traer (Richard Traer), and granddaughters, Noami and Emilia Traer, as well as relatives overseas, and
extended family.
In keeping with Nelly’s wishes there will be a viewing, service, and reception gathering held at Victory Memorial.
