September 29, 1932 - October 17, 2016
Dad was born in Yorkton, SK. He worked hard all his life and was always helping others. He had an excellent sense of humour, always quick to crack a joke with a grin and a laugh. He was kind and generous to everyone, and all who met him loved him. He was a great outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, wild mushroom picking and gold panning, among many other interests. His lifelong love of nature instilled in each person in his family a passion that will forever be present in their hearts.
He was a Sunday School teacher in several churches he attended. He had a very keen eye for perfection of detail, superb at everything he put his hand to. Dad was a self taught builder, mechanic, forester, and farmer who could make anything. He helped build the Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Armstrong, BC. He built onto his own home including plumbing and electrical, and built many outbuildings and sheds. No job was beneath his doing his very best.
He made friends easily and quickly with his great wit and charm. He was non-judgmental and accepting of everyone. He provided kindness, a listening ear, friendship, services, transportation, food and anything else he had to give to help those in need.
He married Daisy Forester on October 6, 1954 in Grandview, MB. In 1968 he moved his family to Monte Lake, BC and later to Armstrong, BC where he worked in the sawmills.
Mom and Dad lived briefly in Boston Bar, BC before moving to the lower mainland.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Bill, Everett, Dan, Glenn, Stan, Leslie and his twin sister, Dorothy Dempster (Omer)
He is survived by his wife Daisy Ludwig (nee Forester) of Surrey, BC, his daughters Gail Ludwig of Burnaby, BC, and Joan Reimer of Langley, BC, his son Gary Ludwig of New Westminster, his only grandchild Ashlee Ydenberg (Jason) of Surrey, BC and his sisters, Marjorie Sigurdson (Delbert) of Barriere, BC and Irene Dempster of Savona, BC.
He passed away peacefully in his home. We will miss you, Dad, more than words can ever say, and you will always be with us in our hearts.
