On April 28, 2025 Tom passed away peacefully at the age of 76 surrounded by his family. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Heather, his children Sean (Lisa) and Sarah (Jon), as well as his three grandchildren Nathan, Evan, and Sophie.
At an early age, Tom worked hard to help support his family. He married in 1973 and had a family of his own. He found his calling in the paper industry, where he worked with dedication and integrity, ending his fifty-year career in the business as an account executive. He was respected by his colleagues for his tireless work ethic, problem solving skills, and deep knowledge of the industry.
His quiet wisdom and sharp mind led to incredible conversation skills. Whether it was history, science, or current events, Tom always had something meaningful to add. His confidence and curiosity about everything always left you walking away from a conversation having learned something new. He had a brilliant mind.
Tom had many passions in life, which included playing golf, listening to music, especially The Beatles, as well as caring for animals. He always had a soft spot and many nicknames for his pets throughout his life.
His love extended to his greatest pride and joy, his family. Family meant everything to Tom, and he showed it not just in words, but in everything he did. His incredible stories and sense of humour would bring everyone together. Always making time for those he loved, Tom made it obvious what was most important to him.
A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Cardiac Surgery ICU at Royal Columbian Hospital for their amazing care.
A private memorial will be held to honour Tom's life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
