

Born in Boston, daughter of the late Norman F. Dewing, M.D. and the late Grace (Burton) Dewing, she was a longtime resident of Raynham before relocating to Rehoboth in 2007.
As a graduate of Bristol Community College, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Middleborough for over 40 years before retiring as the night supervisor in 1990.
Penny enjoyed music, reading, cooking, sewing, quilting, rug hooking and gardening. Her greatest enjoyment came from being surrounded by her family as she hosted many family gatherings. She was considered a second Mom by some and loved by many whom she opened her home to.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra A. Guglielmo of Rehoboth and Pamela J. Arruda and her husband William of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Swansea; four sons, Peter J. Maltais and his wife Catherine of Taunton, Paul D. Maltais and his partner Marilyn Hart of Lancaster, CA, David S. Maltais of Rehoboth and Daniel B. Maltais and his wife Cheryl of Edgartown; brother, Charles Dewing; sisters Carol Dewing and Laura Dewing; grandchildren, Ronald S. Strickland, Jr., Julie A. Standrowicz, Jason M. Sorgman, James P. Maltais, Andrew T. Maltais, and Samantha D. Maltais; great grandchildren, Emma-Leigh, Penelope, and Donovan; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved brother Norman F. Dewing Jr.
Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:30 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a Memorial Service at 5:30 PM at the funeral home.
