Barbara was born in Newburyport, MA, the daughter of Leslie and Ruth (Groves) Mitchell. After growing up in Newburyport, she lived in Swansea before settling in Seekonk. She graduated from Newburyport High School, Class of 1954.
A dedicated NASCAR and NY Giants fan, Barbara found joy in her passions and in spending cherished moments with her family. She will be remembered fondly for her vibrant spirit and her love for those close to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Janyce Paquin and her husband Mark of Seekonk; her son, Jeff Blaisdell and his wife Beth of Seekonk; her brother-in-law, Jack Leary of New Hampshire; five grandchildren: Heather, Amy, Seth, Victoria and Kayla; thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maxine R. Leary.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Visitation will also be held from 10:15 -10:45 AM in the church prior to mass. Contributions in her honor may be made to National Shrine of Our Lady La Salette 947 Park St, Attleboro, MA 02703. Burial will be in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport.
