Bruce Jeffery Andrews, of Swansea, MA, passed away in his home on Friday, April 24, 2026 at age 63. Bruce was a strong, loving, and hard working man born on August 21, 1962 in Cranston, RI. He was the son of Anthony H. and Lillian Y. (Rousseau) Andrews, who predeceased him, and the beloved husband of Jennifer (Lehane) Andrews. Bruce and Jenn had been together since 2010 and married the past 11 years. He will be greatly missed by his family and countless close friends.
Bruce wore many hats, literally and figuratively! He was a heavy equipment operator and proud member of the Local 57 Operators Union since 2005. For the past 15 years, he worked for AGI Construction and when he was laid off in the winter months, he loved plowing snow. Bruce loved to serve his community and family as well. He belonged to the Dighton/Rehoboth Lions Club, the Swansea Lions Club, the Sons of the American Legion, he was a lieutenant on the Rehoboth Fire Department, and he was on the Rehoboth Station #3 Association.
Bruce lived his life, did what he wanted, and had a great time doing it! He had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a hand no matter what the task. He enjoyed spending weekends with his family, his daughters and son-in-law, and his friends. His great sense of humor made everyone feel welcome - especially around the grill which was his happy place. He loved to cook for those dear to him - and for anyone else nearby. Whether it was grilling, smoking meat, or hosting clam boils - no one went hungry and everyone was happy; plates were full and beer was cold. He was also an avid Nascar fan and watched races at Seekonk Speedway. Bruce loved a project and spent many hours in his garage and shed - tinkering, building, and welding. Bruce enjoyed drinking beer and nips, keno and scratch tickets. Over the years, he loved his trucks (the more strobe lights the better) and his many toys. He always enjoyed riding his motorcycle and especially riding places with Jenn.
Bruce also loved kids. Always wanting to lend a hand, he spent years volunteering for charities including The Tomorrow Fund, a Rhode Island charity that supports children in cancer treatment. Having survived cancer as an adult, Bruce's dedication to childhood cancer charities grew from the passing of a close friend's daughter from childhood cancer. Bruce especially loved fundraising through organized motorcycle rides.
In addition to his wife Jennifer, Bruce is survived by his two daughters, Meagan Andrews and Amanda Trudeau (husband Andrew Trudeau), from Oakland, RI; a granddaughter by Amanda and Andrew, Savannah Trudeau; a step-son, Eric Liebl (fiancé Elisa Gao) of West Roxbury; and four grand-puppies - April, Ava, Stitches, and Roo. He has two surviving siblings, Susan Carlson (husband Ron) and Kenneth Andrews, from Rehoboth, and is predeceased by his sister, Marylou Costa. He also has several nieces and nephews.
Bruce's services will be at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea. Visitation will be Friday, May 1, 2026 from 4 to 8PM. An additional calling hour will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 9 to 10AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. Relatives and friends are invited and casual attire is strongly encouraged. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Bruce's memory to The Tomorrow Fund - https://donorbox.org/the-tomorrow-fund
