Clara A. Desmond

Born in Taunton, a daughter of the late Robert F. and E. Mildred (Stevens) Murray, she had been a longtime resident of Swansea.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Taunton and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. An avid card player she played in many area groups and also belonged to area bowling leagues. She enjoyed going to the beach, traveling, and most of all being with her family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters: Diane M Desmond of Swansea, Joan Kovacs and her husband Joseph of Cranston, RI, Susan A. Ball and her husband Arthur of Portsmouth, RI, four sons: Michael J. Desmond of Swansea, Thomas Desmond of Swansea, John J. Desmond Jr. of Warren, RI, Daniel P. Desmond and his wife Debra of Swansea, one sister: Maureen Hayston and her husband Robert of Taunton, three grandchildren: Christopher Ball, Benjamin and Sarah Desmond, two great-grandchildren: Nathan and Joshua Ball and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Robert F. Murray Jr. and Jean Freiday.

Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the Fall River Society St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 9697, Fall River, MA 02720.
